How Does A Solar Swimming Pool Work? | Print |
Pool Resources - Pool Heating

A solar pool heater works with a pump that circulates swimming pool water through the filter as water flows through the the solar collector. While passing through the solar collector, it is warmed by the sun. The warmed then flows back into the pool. When the pool has reached your desired temperature, the water then bypasses the solar collector and returns directly to the pool. Investing in a solar heating system is a great way to be environmentally friendly. Heating your pool with the sun's rays can also prolong your swimming season and reduce heating costs dramatically. Solar pool heaters require no maintenance beyond the usual winterizing procedures you would normally do.

How Much Does A Solar Pool Cost?
Once your solar pool heater is installed, there are no operating costs - the sun's rays are free! The cost of installing an electric heat pump is comparable to the cost of a solar heating system.
